Former POISON frontman, and everyone’s favorite hair-metal party rocker, BRET MICHAELS has been reuniting on several shows recently with POISON across the country but it was his solo act, the BRET MICHAELS BAND, that rolled into the Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas on November 3, 2017 for a Friday night party like only Brett knows how to throw.
The show was opened up by Las Vegas locals and Grammy produced FOUNDRY. For those of you that don’t know, FOUNDRY has recently gone through some changes with David Reed Watson taking over vocal duties for Kelly Keeling. Many of us were there for the first show with this line-up at Vinyl a short time ago, and all I can say is this line-up has solidified and came a long way together in just a short time together. The boy’s setlist got cut a bit short, as happens sometimes when you are a local opening up for a big national act, but we still got to see our favorites like “Get Over It”, “Rolling Stoned” and “Hellraiser”. Whether you love or hate hair metal, you can’t deny that BRET MICHAELS is one of the most enigmatic figures in the music industry. Since leaving POISON, Bret has taken the lead role in the BRET MICHAELS BAND and every time they come to town a party just seems to be waiting to jump off. For those of you that haven’t seen the band in while, Eric Brittingham, formally of CINDERELLA, has now joined on bass, giving the band some more star power to join alongside Bret. The set was packed almost entirely with the biggest hits from the heyday of POISON with a few covers thrown in for good measure, including the BRET MICHAELS BAND putting their own touch on a version of “Sweet Home Alabama”. The setlist was surprisingly short considering the size of the act, but a Bret Michaels concert is always described as just a lot of pure fun and this night was nothing different. Bret even paid homage to our first responders and those who suffered from the Las Vegas tragedy only one month ago, but on this night, everyone had “Nothing but a Good Time”!
