AWESOMAZING!!!

It has been far too long since we have all been able to tour the world. But it is now time to get back to the exhilarating joys of travel, and Alaska is the perfect place to begin.
I discovered Chilkoot Charters & Tours Company several years ago and I wholeheartedly believe them to be extraordinary on every level and definitely the way to discover the majestic beauty of Skagway, Alaska. All of their tours are absolutely stellar.
Why choose Chilkoot Charters and Tours? Great question! Because they believe in safety first and making sure everyone feels secure while traveling. Safety is their first priority. Next, their tours are thrilling and packed with fun. Moreover, the tour guides are awesome, courteous, excited, experienced, helpful, well trained and committed to ensure that every guest has a memorable and fabulous tour experience. Furthermore, without a doubt, it is the best, easiest, and most carefree way to see Skagway. They mitigate the burdens, hassles, stress, worries, and complications of going it alone. The company has implemented a professional approach and proactive strategies so that their patrons can relax and be inspired by the spectacular scenery this area of the world has to offer. Plus, and by the way, they limit the number of guests to a 25-passenger bus. The tour bus is comfortable and has large viewing windows, which enabled us to not miss a thing!

If you are arriving on a cruise, although they attempt to scare you about getting back to the ship on time, understand this is because they want you to book your excursions with them. Chilkoot is less expensive for the same tour and guarantees that you will arrive back to your ship in plenty of time. In fact, they have never had a problem in the company’s history on this matter. Here is a bit of FYI about the company…

CHILKOOT CHARTERS & TOURS IS LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED BY

“The lifelong Alaskan residents, Roy and Stacy Gould. Roy was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, and Stacy has lived in Alaska over 35 years. The company was launched in June 1993 by parents, Capt. Larry and Kathy Pierce. Since its inception, it has grown from a single charter fishing vessel operation to a full service well-regarded company offering rail and land tours from twelve tour vehicles. The company’s success is in large part due to our outstanding tour guides and drivers who make it their mission to provide the most memorable tours possible. All excursions offered by Chilkoot Charters & Tours are entirely operated and managed by the company. They only operate tours in Skagway, so as to focus on what they do best in this area and can therefore guarantee without hesitation the quality of their excursions. Passengers can also enjoy the convenience of courtesy transportation to and from all cruise ship docks in Skagway.” Win-Win!
I believe Roy and Stacy have much to be proud of. As a journalist, and a tourist as well, they had me at hello. From the start I felt secure, confident, and knew with certainty I was in great hands, promising I’d have the time of my life on their tours. And guess what? That is indeed what happened. Hence, I now have memories of Alaska to treasure for a lifetime. I know for sure, that if you go on any of their tours, you will too.

The range and variety of their tours is fabulous and the prices are more than reasonable. What I personally observed about this company? Their goal is for each client to have the best tour experience of their lives. They are committed to this achievement.

I experienced the Yukon Klondike Adventure By Bus tour…
Mike was my tour guide. He was outstanding, ever so charming, and did everything from making us laugh, to informing us all about what we were witnessing through his vast knowledge and training of the region, to keeping us safe! The tour was around 6 ½ hours of pure enthralling, glorious, majestic vistas, and joyful fascination. To be precise, it was awe-inspiring and heavenly. Mike kept our group (consisting of different ages) totally mesmerized throughout the day. I trust this isn’t an easy task, but he easily rocked it!!!

Mike even stopped at extraordinary locations along the way for some pictures. He was generous, snapping individual photos for us at each location. He also pointed out the wildlife, including 2 bears, which we would’ve missed if not for him. It was so awesome.

This tour ventured deep into the Yukon Territory on the famous Klondike Highway. We traveled through the magnificent, glorious beauty of the Yukon. As we journeyed on our excursion, Mike narrated fully, minute-by-minute, all the way up to Carcross, Canada, and Green Emerald Lake. We were immensely delighted he left us ample time and opportunities to stop, view, marvel, and photograph waterfalls, grandiose mountains, spectacular glaciers, historic sites, and the unpatrolled beauty of Alaska!

This adventure took us to some of the most beautiful lakes and scenery in the area. When we arrived at Caribou Crossing Trading Post, we were served a Yukon style BBQ chicken lunch with coleslaw, baked potato, homemade roll, and all-you-can-eat cake donuts. I was quite surprised how delicious it was. YUM! We also had the opportunity to see the Yukon Wildlife Museum, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Museum, and the adorable Husky Puppy Camp. I had the rare opportunity to experience the dogcart rides, for an extra fee. I mean… it’s Alaska! Did I have any other choice?

Mike’s huge love and passion for his work is obvious and understandable. With excitement, he took great pride in showing his guests how beautiful Skagway Alaska is.
Honestly, I wished the tour went on longer. Everything about this day including, Mike, created a spectacular trip never to be forgotten and a beautiful memory to cherish.
